Description

Asia is an immersive, fast-paced historical challenge where knowledge, strategy, and quick thinking collide. Part of the Chronicles of Time initiative, this module transforms grand narratives—from ancient trade and diplomacy to philosophy and pivotal moments—into a thrilling, multi-round showdown. Participants, competing solo or in teams, progress through four uniquely designed rounds, each blending interactive puzzles, tactical decision-making, and rapid-fire quizzes. It’s more than a test of facts—it’s a race to connect, outmaneuver, decode, and react, offering a dynamic and intellectually charged journey through Asia’s past and present.

Rules of Play

General Conduct

  • 01Use of books, notes, internet, AI tools, or any external assistance during rounds is strictly prohibited unless a specific round explicitly allows it.
  • 02Participants must maintain discipline; disruptive behavior may lead to disqualification.
  • 03Once registered, participation mode (single player or team) and team composition cannot be changed.

Quiz Format

  • 01All rounds must be attempted in the sequence announced by the organizing team.
  • 02Single players will compete under the same rules, time limits, and scoring structure as teams.
  • 03In case of any technical or operational issues, the organizing team’s decision regarding reattempts or alternative questions will be final.

Scoring Guidelines

  • 01Each round carries a predefined score that will be shared before commencement.
  • 02In the event of a tie (between individuals or teams), tiebreaker questions will be used.
  • 03Negative marking may apply in advanced rounds and will be communicated during the briefing.

Disqualification Criteria

  • 01Any form of cheating, impersonation, or use of prohibited material.
  • 02Failure to comply with time limits.
  • 03Ignoring instructions issued by round moderators.

Final Authority

  • 01All decisions by the EM Team and respective Round Heads will be considered final and binding.

    Round 1 – The Silk Road Caravan (Connection & Trade)Theme: Establishing Connections | Mechanic: Match & Forge the Route (Multi-step Puzzle)
    • Participants receive sets of Goods/Items (e.g., Silk, Spices) and Cities/Regions (e.g., Chang’an, Baghdad).
    • A minimum of three correct matches unlocks segments of a hidden Silk Road map.
    • Once revealed, participants must arrange the cities in the correct geographical sequence within the allotted time.

    Round 2 – Alliance & Intrigue (Strategy & Diplomacy)Theme: Strategic Partnerships | Mechanic: The Diplomatic Gambit (Strategy, Bidding & Bluffing)
    • Each participant/team receives a secret Diplomatic Mandate (e.g., Secure a maritime trade monopoly).
    • Historic figures/kingdoms present Diplomatic Cards (Alliance, Trade Deal, Spy, Cultural Mission).
    • Using limited Influence Points, participants bid on or deploy cards to fulfill their mandate.
    • Bonus points are awarded for correctly inferring rival mandates based on observed strategies.

    Round 3 – The Literary & Philosophical LanternTheme: Intellectual Exchange | Mechanic: Reconstruct the Verse, Decode the Concept
    • Part A: Jumbled lines from iconic Asian poetry (Rumi, Tagore, Li Bai) must be reconstructed in order.
    • Part B: Successful reconstruction unlocks a Philosophical Cipher inspired by Asian logic/math.
    • Solving the cipher reveals a core philosophical concept (e.g., Dharma, Ren, Sunyata).

    Round 4 – The Pivot of HistoryTheme: Geopolitical & Cultural Turning Points | Mechanic: Cascading Timeline
    • A pivotal historical event (e.g., The Bandung Conference, 1955) anchors the center of the timeline.
    • Participants answer 8–10 rapid-fire questions within 90 seconds.
    • Each response must be classified as a cause or consequence and placed accordingly.
    • Scoring rewards accuracy, correct categorization, and speed.
